What colors would work with green carpet?
desilu asked:
I am wanting to redo my bedroom. The carpets are a dark green. My sheets are a blush color and comforter white. I don’t know what color to paint the walls. I don’t want to pull up the carpet and I really like my sheets. Any suggestions? Also in our bathroom around the sink is a dark green and I want to repaint it also but if I do yellow it would look john deerish and if I did red itd be too christmasy. Any ideas here?

This may only work if you aren’t afraid to show your girly side, but what if you added light pink? Go for a military, but way cute room. Simple is best. You seem bold, but you are so right, red and green would look too clashy. The white comforter would lighten the room for what ever color scheme you choose, so that’s a plus. Stay away from colors like black and brown, even as small accents.

There aren’t many colors that don’t go with green. Look outside at the trees, shrubs, and flowers. The dilemma, I think, would be if you want the rooms to be feminine, masculine, or gender-indifferent. What is your favorite color?
Feminine could be just about any hue of lilac or lavender or rose–not too dark–and they would blend with your blush sheets. Paint the trim white. My personal preference is lavender.
Masculine could be a khaki hue, a dark tan maybe. I think this would be elegant.
Neutral could be perhaps a couple of shades of a lighter green.
You can add in a third color to any of the above colors. With green your choices are nearly limitless.

take a color you love in your sheets – get a small sample from the store and paint a brush strong on the walls – see how it feels.
i am partial to dark green and white myself – looks very fresh and clean. don’t clutter w/too much color.

I had green carpets once and hated them. They were so hard to decorate around. We ended up doing the gold/green/pale pink/burgundy combo in EVERY room except one. The one exception was done in yellow/green/bright blue – primary beachy colors.
